IMS Open Corpus Workbench

The IMS Open Corpus Workbench (CWB) has its own home on sourceforge where users can find information on the latest developments of the CWB and where they can download the latest versions for both server and workstation installation: http://cwb.sourceforge.net

The IMS Corpus Workbench is one of the most powerful tools for corpus encoding, query and analysis. It is of long standing in the corpus linguistics community and this popularity has been increasing ever since the CWB has been made available via web interfaces such as BNCWeb (geared towards the British National Corpus (BNC)) and the more generic CQPWeb. The most powerful features of the CWB are the powerful query language and the efficiency of its corpus encoding which is responsible for the speed of the query processor and the small size of corpora encoded by the Encode Tool that enables the user to encode corpora CWBs internal storage format.

IMS Open Corpus Workbench under Windows

The IMS Open Corpus Workbench recently also comes in a very useable Windows version which, however, can be a bit tricky to set up. There are two video tutorials on YouTube.com that explain very well how it is done:
